Superconducting aircraft electric propulsion system was demonstrated at MAKS-2021 to the President of the Russian Federation

MAKS-2021 air show takes place these days in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. SuperOx presents at MAKS a superconducting motor and an electric generator. 500 kW electric motor was developed in framework of the Russian Advanced Research Foundation project. This motor is a part of the power electric propulsion system installed on Yak-40LL flying laboratory.

On the opening day of the air show, the flying laboratory itself and the components of advanced electric propulsion system installed on it were presented to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

The project of a flying laboratory with a hybrid power system are being developed by the cooperation of leading Russian scientific and technical organizations in the field of aviation: the Zhukovsky Research Center, the Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motors, the Chaplygin SibNIA and the USATU.
